It's becoming more and more important to me to understand the history of the places I see. The little hamlets, the small churches, the ruins of the castles: everything usually had a purpose and I need to know why. It's becoming a little obsession, but it's helping me to discover places I would have never imagined to see: it's really not important to go far away to see outstanding places. The area where I usually hike around it's pretty small (7 valleys, included the one in which I live) but after 4 years of strolling around I feel like I've just scratched the surfaces. The thing I fear the most is that all this little details, left to themselves, will sooner or later disappear "like tears in the rain": people move around and places that were once swarming with life are now empty shells. But I feel that sooner or later someone will begin coming back: cities are already unlivable in my opinion, and going on the situation will only worsen.
