Il Popolo di Ridracoli (1995) by Claudio Bignami

A thorough investigation about the history of the inhabitants of yet another little hamlet in the mountain woods. If you like this kind of informations (unlikely, I know) it has a lot of interesting little facts, name of houses now under the water reservoir, surnames lost in times and for the most part hardened farmers that lived with nearly nothing.

It's also really interesting to notice that most of the things they needed to keep on living there (a school, electricity, a road) were built when almost everybody had already migrated to the nearby towns.

I don't know, I feel it's strange to think about those times (like 70 years ago) and see that a somehow little piece of land was their entire life: the farthest they traveled was probably the market of some nearby ciiy, 6 hours by foot away. It's like reading tales from another dimension that was there less than a century ago.
